Tests for bulletproof vests and helmets
Test 1. Whether bulletproof performance is bulletproof is the first index of safety. The test is carried out in the ballistic laboratory. The test uses real guns and live ammunition. The sound of the gun is deafening and the ears can’t stand it at all. The shooting range management is very strict. No one is allowed to touch the gun except two shooters. The shooter doesn’t need a sight wherever he hits with a hundred shots and a hundred middle fingers. There is a safety glass in front of the shooter to prevent bouncing and protect the shooter. There is also a bomb velocimeter in the middle of the trajectory. According to the requirements of the national standard, the bullet proof performance test must be carried out under the specified bullet speed, so the bullet speed is a very important index. Inside the bulletproof vest is mastic made of special materials, which is used to simulate human muscle tissue. Therefore, there are strict requirements for the softness and hardness of mastic in the actual measurement. Then the standard stipulates that a bulletproof vest should test a total of 6 parts. For each shot, the depth of the crater shall not exceed 25mm, otherwise the impact force is too large and will cause great damage to human bones. At the same time, combined with the actual combat scene, simulate the high-temperature and low-temperature environment for testing. Some of the bulletproof vests were of substandard quality and directly penetrated the clay or even the iron plate, causing great harm to the police officers.
Test 2. Although there are no requirements in the national standard of weight test, the weight is an index to consider the portability of bulletproof products. Therefore, it is also added in this comparison, and the weighing of bulletproof clothing is only to weigh its protective layer, such as steel plate, etc., while the weight of lining and other fabrics is not calculated, so as to strive for the greatest fairness and justice.
Test 3. Protective area the test of protective area is to use the method of several grids, one grid is 1 square centimeter, and finally calculate the protective area of a bulletproof vest. Finally, the “area density” should be calculated according to the weight and protection area. The smaller the area density, the better the performance.
Test 4. Comfort test comfort includes softness, size adjustment function, shoulder cushioning and anti-skid, air permeability, tactical (whether it has portable tactical template design) and other indicators. The test methods and requirements of bulletproof vests of different levels are different. Finally, according to the comparison results and different bulletproof levels, the comparison results are ranked and published to the public.
